Team Melli will Participate in Ivory Coast Tournament
Taj confirmed Iran’s participation in a four-nation tournament in Ivory Coast, following a recent meeting with national team head coach Amir Ghalenoei and key federation staff. “We have decided to accept the invitation to the Ivory Coast tournament, especially since the status of European teams’ preparation for the World Cup remains uncertain,” Taj said.
Additionally, Iran’s participation in the CAFA Championship is confirmed, and a friendly match in Russia is also under negotiation. “We aim to fully utilize the FIFA international match calendar (FIFA Days),” he added.
Taj also addressed the upcoming Persian Gulf Pro League season, stating that matches will be played every three to five days due to a compressed schedule. “Our goal is to align with global standards where teams play every four days. There may be weeks where teams play every three days,” he explained.
He emphasized the importance of standardizing stadium facilities in Tehran, following meetings with the CEOs of Esteghlal, Persepolis, and Paykan football clubs. On media operations, Taj said: “Each match will have a designated media officer, and post-match press conferences must be limited to 15 minutes, focusing strictly on the game.”
When asked about the return of foreign players and coaches, Taj noted: “They have valid contracts and must return. The current situation does not hinder travel, and flight services are operational.”
Regarding the potential suspension of Ricardo Sá Pinto’s ban, Taj declined to comment, stating the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the FFIRI Appeals Committee.
